Wired / Wireless Networking |

Would you like to share your Broadband Internet connection
between 2 or more computers? Share documents and files between your office
computers? Maybe link two computers together to play LAN (Local
Area Network) games? Or just be able to use the internet on your
laptop anywhere in your house or garden without having to trail wires everywhere? |

PC Care
can network computers together and configure them to share
internet connections, documents, files and peripherals such as printers
using both wired LAN (Local Area Network) and wireless
WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) technologies, or a mixture
of both. |

Not only will we install, configure and optimize
your network, but will will make sure that your wireless
network is completely secure by setting a WEP (Wired
Equivalent Privacy) Key. Because a wireless network is constantly
emitting a signal to anyone within its range, it is possible for other people
to connect into your wireless network. What the WEP key
does is block access to any computer that is not intended to be on the network,
hence making it the equivalent to a wired network, which
can only be connected to by a cable. By doing this you have the convenience
of a wireless network connection but the solid security
of a wired one. |

Surprisingly when we are setting up wireless connections
for our clients and surveying the local area for existing wireless networks,
we frequently come across unsecured WLAN's. An unsecured WLAN, more or less
allows a direct connection into the computers using it and can easily be
exploited by fraudsters to obtain sensitive information, files and documents.
We estimate that as many as 1 in 4 wireless networks in
the areas we cover are unsecured. If you already have a wireless network
but are concerned about security PC Care
will happily show you how to secure your existing WLAN and apply a WEP key. |
